About C++ Institute

The C++ Institute is a globally recognized initiative committed to advancing education and certification in the C and C++ programming languages. Established in 2011 and operated by the Open Education and Development Group (OpenEDG) since 2018, the Institute has played a key role in shaping modern standards for teaching, assessing, and recognizing C and C++ programming skills worldwide.

With a professional legacy rooted in industry needs and educational excellence, the C++ Institute has become the world’s leading provider of high-stakes certification programs in the C and C++ programming languages. It serves learners, educators, institutions, and employers across more than 150 countries through a network of over 5,000 Pearson VUE® test centers and its proprietary TestNow™ platform.

As a member of the Standard C++ Foundation, the C++ Institute actively supports the global C++ community and contributes to the advancement and adoption of modern C++ programming practices. This membership reflects its commitment to promoting the language’s evolution and ensuring alignment with industry standards.

Mission

Our mission is to provide a globally recognized framework for C and C++ programming certification, foster a culture of continuous learning, and support the professional growth of developers at every stage of their careers.

Mission Statement

The C++ Institute is committed to advancing global proficiency in C and C++ programming by providing high-quality education, certification, and professional development opportunities. Our mission is to empower learners, educators, and professionals with the skills, tools, and credentials needed to thrive in modern software development, embedded systems, and technical innovation.

Global Reach and Educational Impact

We work with schools, universities, training centers, and employers worldwide to bring modern, accessible programming education to learners of all backgrounds.

We have designed and developed a robust certification pathway – Entry, Associate, and Professional levels – for C and C++ programmers. These certifications are widely integrated into academic programs and recognized by state and national Career and Technical Education (CTE) frameworks in the U.S. and abroad.

Technology and Certification Infrastructure

The Institute provides free self-paced learning courses via the Edube.org platform and supports formal instruction through the OpenEDG Education Partner Program. All certification exams are developed and reviewed by subject matter experts and psychometricians to ensure fairness, consistency, and quality. Exams are delivered in secure testing environments through Pearson VUE® and TestNow™.

Who We Serve

The C++ Institute serves a broad global audience – from secondary students and college learners to software engineers and embedded systems developers. Its certification holders work at industry – leading companies such as Cisco, HP, IBM, Intel, Bosch, ARM, Garmin, Siemens, Accenture, Tata Consultancy Services, and more.
